While PSN got the demo before XBLA, the latter actually scored a timed exclusive release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 in the end. In yet another ironic twist, PS3 owners who have been waiting for this game might have the better deal through a retail pack, which should hit US stores at August 13th. I like the fact that Sony is experimenting with releases like this. While we might never know how big of an effect Patapon 2 sales had through the simultaneous retail code and download release, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is obviously part of a more popular franchise and this pack actually has more value. Look at what you’re getting for 14.99$ should you choose to buy this game through retail instead of download:
PSN Code for full game (obviously)
DVD case with boxart and sleeve (another “obviously”)
8-page manual (elementry, my dear Watson!)
1 Month subscription to Marvel Digital Comics (wow)
2000 Capcom Unity points (double wow)
Purists and fanboys will opt for this cool release. I myself am going for the PSN download ’cause it’s cheaper for me…and I’ll have to wait a week until the US import gets to where I live should I opt for that pack.
