Apple Hires Matt Casamassina From IGN

If you’ve been a longtime reader of IGN.com, which most gamers have been, thna you likely know the name Matt Casamassina.  He’s been working for IGN in one form or another for the past 13 years.  That’s an extremely long time for videogame journalism.  Well that legacy has officially come to an end as of this past Friday.  He updated his personal blog to reveal that he’s moving on to greener pastures.  Starting in May, he’ll be working exclusively with…

That’s a pretty nice gig if you ask me.  Officially he’ll be Apple’s Global Editorial Games Manager, App Store.  He’ll be responsible for helping Apple reshape the App Store to make browsing, and buying games a much more enjoyable experience.  As he said himself…

I will be leading the charge for games on the App Store, so whether you browse through iTunes, iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, the games content you see will be handpicked and organized by me and my team. I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve got to admit, I couldn’t be any happier for Matt myself.  His hard work and dedication have clearly paid off.  I wanted to show a little professional courtesy and say Matt, I wish you all the best at one of my favorite companies.  I’m sure you’ll shine brightly.
