Panasonic goes to the Jungle

The Nintendo 3DS is not the only new handheld system making news, because Panasonic is going to join the battle themselves. They are making a new portal gaming system; “The Jungle Handheld”. This is very interesting news because the device looks like a portal DVD player to me. The system will be online and even have an MMO game based on Battlestar Galactica of all things (which might be a lot of fun I might add).

Panasonic had this to say about their new gaming handheld: “this mean little machine features a kick ass display, touch pad, keyboard, and other gaming controls that we’ll be saying more about soon.” and their mission statement: “create an ecosystem around online gaming.”

Well, I do admit I’m very interested in what the company has planned for “The Jungle” and Panasonic has a pretty mean handheld market out there that won’t make things easy for them. More on “The Jungle Handheld” soon!

  1. Welcome to the jungle, we got funny games, we got everything you want, we got the names and so forth…..
Jokes aside i think this will go the same way as guns and roses, for the main reason that according to some sources it only runs Lynux ..i can see problems here

  2. I don’t like this idea. I think handheld gaming should stay away from the internet. I mean… 90% of the time you’re gonna have internet access is gonna be at home. Wouldn’t you rather play your home console instead of a portable?

  3. I’m not sure what to think of this. I get that Panasonic wants to try something new here, but entering the gaming industry half-cocked is anything but a good idea. It’s extremely challenging to enter the market. Look how long it took Microsoft to make a real impact. While we most certainly need more details, I can just say…good luck boys.

  4. Sounds like a recipe of disaster to me. Who in the blue heck wants to play MMOs on handheld? MMOs are home entertainment, not something you play on the go.
