After 16-Year Hiatus Nintendo Returns To CES

I really don’t know what to say except that I’m pretty shocked.  Nintendo has completely ignored CES for years and years, and yet will return for CES 2011.  We already know the full launch details of the 3DS for Japan, but all we know about the North American and European launches is that both are scheduled for March 2011.  One would assume CES will be the perfect venue for Nintendo to reveal all the launch plans for these two key markets.  I could be wrong, but what else could they possibly bring to the table for CES 2011?  CES begins on January 6th and runs through to the 9th.  Steve Ballmer is giving the opening keynote speech on the 5th.  With this news it means that all three major console makers will be at this year’s CES, making this history in the making.

  1. What a turn of events! I’m hoping for more information about big 3DS games that we know very little about, such as Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and Paper Mario. Just basic stuff like that.

It would also be great to find out more details about 3-D enhanced GB/GBC games, maybe finding out a few more titles that could be available at launch.

Of course, I want to see a much better online store and infrastructure, and to see evidence of this.
