November NPD Numbers Released

It’s that time again when we let you know just how well your favorite consoles are selling.  Before we get to that, let’s take a look at the highest selling game for November 2010.  I’ll give you one guess.  What’s that, you said Black Ops, well guess what you’re right!  In fact the game sold a whopping 8.4 million copies making it the seventh highest selling game of all time.  It’s only been on the market for a month!  Imagine how well it’ll perform in the coming weeks leading up to Christmas.  Ouch!  Here’s the complete top ten.

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops
  • Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
  • Just Dance 2
  • Madden NFL 11
  • Fable III
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns
  • Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
  • Gran Turismo 5
  • NBA 2K11
  • Wii Fit Plus
  • Given the way the NPD hands out the information, we no longer know just how well each of these games sold.  What we do know are how many consoles have been sold.  Microsoft takes charge yet again this month, making it six consecutive months in a row that Microsoft has come out on top in the console race.  The official standings are as such.

    1) Xbox 360 – 1.37 million

    2) Wii – 1.27 million

    3) PlayStation 3 – 530,000

No word on portable sales just yet folks, but rest assured the DS sold billions.  The reason given for the extremely high Xbox sales is thanks to the successful Kinect launch.  The magical sensor has already sold over 2.5 million units thus far.  It might also have something to do with the success of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

What are your thoughts on the latest sales info?

    1. I am impresse really with the consoles number, in one hand that microsoft continues to go strong and with this i think they will cement the second place in this gen race, on the other that nintendo it is no that far behind, and really ahead of the ps3, knowing that we have two motion controll for their competitors, wow the wii really has stayin power this gen, i hope they can keep this up next gen.

    2. Surprised by the low PS3 sales. On the other hand, their only exclusive holiday hitter that’s been hyped up like crazy is GT5, and the game isn’t as popular in American audiences compared to Japan and the UK. Biggest evidence is that I don’t see it in the NPD charts.

Glad to see DKC Returns doing well there. Wish we can get specific numbers though.

    3. GT is off to a record start, having just shipped 5.5 million copies worldwide. The reason why its November showing isn’t too high is because it was released just at the very end of the month. If it doesn’t make it any higher in December well then we’ll have something to talk about.
