Readers’ Choice Awards 2010: Hub of Week 3 (Platform Awards)

I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays. A Merry belated Christmas to everyone…or is it happy holidays? As The Angry Video Game Nerd likes to say, “if you don’t like those greetings, then happy shut the F-up!”

Anyway, our platform awards for this week were sort of a bust. Unfortunately, I had a really bad cold so I couldn’t advertise them as heavily as our genre awards. I’ve been posting the polls on a semi-consistent basis, but couldn’t light them up with individual posts. For some reason, people haven’t been noticing them. The polls have been changing from time to time in our sidebar and I set up a separate page over at our menu hub under “GOTY 2010 Log”. What gives, readers? We get around 150 views a day average and barely have any talk and votes aside from a few active fans.

So let’s go over our set of rules for these awards.

1) as usual, enhanced ports and remakes are not allowed unless noted. A few games this are have been classified as full-blown re-imaginings of old games and franchises such as Goldeneye and Lufia. Those count.

2) deadline is January 4th, 2011.

3) For platform awards, “best Wii game” means best games that are exclusive to the Wii console. This applies to the PS3 and 360 as well. Games that have simultaneous releases for the 360 and PC are considered 360-exclusive since we’re comparing between consoles here.

4) We do have a separate “best multiplatform” award for simultaneous releases across major consoles. There are a few games such as Bayonetta which aren’t qualified for this award since the PS3 port of said release sucks like no tomorrow. The releases in question have to be at least consistent in quality across the board. Of course, the more platforms a game is released on, the higher the value it is…take that for what it’s worth.

And without further ado, here are this week’s polls once again. Please start voting for your favorites. Discussion is heavily recommended. Be on the lookout tomorrow for our most important readers’ choice of the year; the overall best game of 2010 award!

  1. Just played Black Ops over the Holidays while at my Dad’s place. I found the single player campaign to be really good!
    Way better than MW2 was!

    1. You know I think I’m the only person alive who actually enjoyed MW2’s single player. Did you play it on veteran? If not, go try that out because I find that adds a lot to every CoD.

  2. I did play it on Veteran….

I found the story telling in MW2 to be terrible. Controlling WAY too many different characters. Things were told too fast and then switched to another character and you wouldn’t know what happens wich left you lost.

Black Ops was more or less the same character all long with the same pals. Let you become more attached. And I found the experiences to be spot on!

When you met the president you really felt like it was an honor to be in his presence. Look out for Charlie, up in the tree! And playing russian roullette!

    1. Yeah I agree that Black Ops was indeed the better overall single-player experience, but I still really enjoyed MW2. Like I said, I think I’m the only one ;)

  3. NOOOOOOOO! Pc was my platform of the year and to have to choose between my top 3 games was way too hard :)

  4. I played a lot of wow cataclysm lol I think my GoTY would be a three way tie between the craft games lol and then SC2 would come out just a hair in front. Just a tiny hair. Mostly because of what it does for esports. Even though I don’t play it any more I still watch (mostly) commented replays every day on youtube. Whenever theres an MLG competition I follow SC2 to see matches live (I squezze in a bit of Halo as well lol) Its the first game that I know who the top players and teams in the world are and its really fun to see some the rivalries. Its to the point that I think I rather watch SC2 than a good old hockey game :)
