Similar to EA’s online pass, Codemasters’ DiRT 3 requires players to sign into the PlayStation Store to activate a special voucher which grants online multiplayer access. More and more developers are doing this to challenge secondhand sales. I say challenge, but the truth is they’re doing this to make a little extra cash from the secondhand market. Until the PlayStation Store returns, which should have been yesterday evening until Sony decided to pull the plug on that, no one will be able to play this new racer online. Obviously this only affects those with the PS3 version, but it’s yet another reason why we want the PS Store back up and running ASAP.
Does this news affect any of you that picked up the game yesterday? If so, be sure to let us know below.
