Dragon Quest X To Become Wii U Launch Title?!
How does that headline strike you? According to Japanese blogger Alloc, Square-Enix president Yoichi Wada answered a few investor questions where he was directly asked what is the current situation with Dragon Quest X. His answer was the company is now in a position where they are looking to release the game for both the Wii and an enhanced version for the Wii U. Should the timing be right, it could even make its way to the Wii U as a launch title.
Now I don’t know about you, but if the Wii U gets DQ X as a Japanese launch title, I think that alone will help move millions of units. What do you think?

All the power to them should DQX go to Wii U. Having a simultaneous release on both Wii and Wii U would be sweet for everyone, yet I’m sure the true potential of the audiovisuals will be compromised. It’s a shame really because I want to see a fully realized and HD Dragon Quest which follows the lines of DQ8.
As for Square-Enix’s overall mentality this generation, for the past year or so they know that they’ve been in deep trouble. Their Japanese studios are stagnant since the semi-failure of FFXIII and the complete destruction of FFXIV. Versus XIII and Kingdom Hearts are not in sight for a very long time. No plans for another Mana or Saga game…even original IPs are not anywhere in the radar. Basically, Eidos saved their asses this year with Deus Ex and Tomb Raider. Their financial situation isn’t exactly pleasing.

Well, that’s all the convincing I’d need to get a Wii U at launch. I’m pumped for Dragon Quest X. Despite how much I loved IX, I hope that this game is more like VIII.
