Now here’s something you don’t see everyday. Alliance numérique (AN), in collaboration with the Canadian Interactive Alliance (CIAIC) has started the nomination process for the first Canadian Game Development Talent Awards. What makes these awards so unique is that you’re nominating an individual person, not just a game company. There are seven categories to choose from including:
- Animator of the Year
- Audio Professional of the Year
- Designer of the Year
- Programmer of the Year
- Producer of the Year
- Visual Artist of the Year
- Emerging Talent
If you would like to nominate someone who you feel deserves this honour, check out www.talentawards.ca for all the information on rules of nomination and how the whole process works.
Don’t forget that Canadian developers have worked on some of the very best videogames out there. There are huge companies like EA, Ubisoft, Eidos, BioWare and so many others that operate in Canada. If you enjoy a particular game and don’t know the person who worked on it, fear not because the awards are done in such a way that you can list a particular game and the organization will hunt down who worked on it.
I hope you all nominate someone deserving.
