Shin Megami Tensei IV for 3DS!

There really isn’t much more to say: ATLUS has announced Shin Megami Tensei IV for the Nintendo 3DS. I am incredibly happy about this announcement and I imagine many others are as well. Not only is the Shin Megami Tensei series in general critically acclaimed, there hasn’t been an official numbered entry since Nocturne on the PlayStation 2, though Strange Journey on the Nintendo DS is also technically part of the main Shin Megami Tensei line. You can check out the Japanese teaser site here. No word yet on a US release, but because of the recent popularity of the series, especially Persona, I’d say chances are favorable.

In related news, ATLUS has another game in the series prepared for the Nintendo 3DS: Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers. Originally released on the Sega Saturn and later on the PlayStation, Soul Hackers is one of the SMT games that never made it out of Japan. The official Japanese site is now live for the game, as well. Reportedly, we can expect better loading times, full voice work, and new battle animations. Not much else is known about either of these games, but I’m going to assume that a US release will happen.

What do you guys say about this? I’m incredibly excited for both and can only hope that Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 5 is on the way!

  1. Yeah this is good news Tim. Glad to see the 3DS continue the tradition of the DS, getting tons of bad ass games from all genres. Atlus would be foolish not to publish this here.
