Good and fair review. Absolutely agree with all the points you've mentioned. About it being too easy, it gets quite challenging toward the end if you're going for 100% completion, but I do know where you're coming from when it comes to the lives system though. It's broken. I mean...how can they put collecting thousands of coins hand in hand with the current 1UP system? It serves no purpose. I mean if they made us use 1UPs as currency somehow, I would understand. Or make them sparse. Like a 1UP every 1000 or 10000 coins, not 100 as usual. But yeah, the whole weakness of the 1UP system is obvious in this particular installment and has been a pain in the series' butt for quite sometime. They need to go back to the drawing board with lives. Either eliminate them completely or change the purpose of the 1UPs. An RPG lite system in which 1UPs are used as currency would fit so well in a Mario game....imagine spending 1UPs to unlock certain abilities and whatnot.

Also, I'll have to nitpick on the level design a bit. While very strong most of the time, most levels don't fully adhere to the concept of coin collecting. That's mostly thrown in there for good measure. I had 80000 coins when I got 100% completion. Do they seriously expect me to grind to a million? Besides, the reward for a million coins is pointless. I just feel that they didn't develop the concept well and it suits the Wario series a lot more than Mario. The coin collecting appeal is lost towards the end of the game.
