OUYA Unboxing & Impressions (Updated with Another Video)

A special package arrived today.

The tiny little system is surprisingly versatile. Here are some of my thoughts after playing with the thing for a few hours.

The OUYA is far more robust than I thought it would be.  I’ve fixed my video capture problem, and so you can expect direct feed footage in the coming days.  I’ve got lots and lots to cover here.

  1. Watched the unboxing. Well done Jarrod! Enjoyed it. I don’t plan to get one, though in fact at some point I intend to attempt to repair my Transformer TF300T. I bricked the stupid thing trying to restore it to factory settings, not really knowing what I was doing. I need to replace the motherboard, but haven’t gotten around to try to remove it, or pick one up off eBay. My plan was to actually pick up the MOGA Pro and start playing games on it that way… We’ll see if I manage to get around to it :) Have fun with OUYA.

    1. Hey Justin, long time no speak. I’ve been enjoying the OUYA quite a bit as of late. The only downside I see is that it is so easy to play ROMs on. This thing is going to sell like hotcakes simply because people can pay $99 for the system and get literally 10,000 games for free. The fact that you can play N64 and PS1 games almost perfectly has me worried that it will become the PirateCube before the end of the year. Here’s hoping the new software can shine through, which I’m hopeful will happen.
