Great review!! For me, this is my personal favorite Dragon Quest game, right alongside the amazing Dragon Quest VIII. I think part of that comes from nostalgia, but it's still such a well crafted adventure. The story and characters are very memorable, especially.

I LOVE BlazBlue. I have since Calamity Trigger first hit. But these updates are getting absolutely ridiculous. Everyone always seems to call Capcom on their updates, but Arc System Works seriously needs to relax on these. Guilty Gear had like 80 million updates and I'm worried the same thing will happen for BlazBlue, now that we have Calamity Trigger, Continuum Shift, and now Extend. I'm probably not helping the situation though anywhere (I'm kind of a hypocrite lol). I want this game pretty bad just because I love BlazBlue and welcome some new stuff. But a part of me just wants a distinct BlazBlue 2 to come out with a new or changed roster.

Still need to get KOF13 as well, I've heard so many good things about that one. Though now I've heard rumor that there's KOF13 Climax coming out as an update (just in Japan so far). I'm really excited for Persona 4 Arena and Street Fighter X Tekken as well.

I still love to use Ragna, he's my main. But Rachel Alucard is also quite fun to use. I really like how diverse the roster is, but there are a few characters I just cannot use well (Carl Clover is the bane of my existence).

Glad you're enjoying them Mal :) They've been super fun to make because of how quick they are. Also figured that intro would make a few people laugh. That was Steven's idea, but I'm sure you already knew that lol.

If they integrate the Vita's touch-screen then it'll definitely give the 3DS version a run for its money. If it's just a straight forward HD remaster like the PS3 version then it'll simply look pretty and become portable. Any release dates projected? I'd imagine they'd want to keep it far apart from the 3DS version because one will hurt the sales of the other.

Very cool stuff Mal. Sorry about the confusion there Ahmed.

So it's sure looking like the HD remastered version for the Vita may be the best version if they add a few bonus features. Either way I'm going to pick this one up because I just love me some MGS3.

Really, Steven? Color me surprised. I thought MGS4 was the debut of the behind-the-back aiming, not Snake Eater. But yeah, the gyroscope aiming sucked.

Ahmed, the behind the back camera is from Subsistence, the best possible version of Snake Eater. As for the gyroscope, you're right about that, although to be honest, it controlled like ass. I slipped off the bridge at least 10 times while trying to pass it.

Yeah regarding Snake Eater 3D, I actually said that it borders on being a remake...but it's not a full-fledged one. That's what I was telling you on Facebook. It's more of an enhanced port of the original, not a full fledged remake. So you misunderstood me on that part. If you guys recall, I don't think that the original Snake Eater had behind-the-back 3rd person view...that got that straight off of Peace Walker for the 3DS version. That's one example of the features added.

As for that beehive thing you were talking about Steven, yes that was in the original Snake Eater, too. I checked. The difference with the 3DS version is that you have to balance yourself via Gyroscope when passing through the bridge.

I have played some more levels of this game and have quickly become addicted also. You're right, its gets a lot more fun in the later levels, especially once you gain the "ability" of eating people up. Awesome and a lot of fun for only 8$!

That will completely depend on how successful the device is in North America. If the Japanese woes make their way here, I'm certain Sony will have no choice but to bite the bullet and reduce the price. Thing is though, this is clearly a very expensive system and I'm not so sure they have the same wiggle room Nintendo had.

Hey guys, Great site and quite informative. I love this contest the prizes look awesome, and it would make me look so cool at school. My favorite scene in the movie is the pod race. It was so well done and such a rush I felt like I was right there by the race track. It reminds me of the time I went to Six flags with my friend.

I have quite enjoyed FFXIII-2 took my time during the whole game played about 40 hours before deciding to finish off the main story.

I have to say though that I had found the story somewhat confusing but did get the hang of it closer to the end. The ending tho not going to say anything but hmmmmm.

Currently going through end game things trying to beat harder bosses, acquire better monsters and leveling them up properly alot of grinding for monster materials thought.

All around i prefered this one over the previous installement.

Problem with the 3DS is that I didn't buy it until before OoT came out, and I picked it up solely for that game. I was impressed by the 3D elements and by the newly launched eShop, etc. Had I been there day 1 I think it would have been a very different initial reaction. The 3DS didn't have nearly as robust a launch line-up and the lack of the eShop would have hurt badly. That said, when I did get my 3DS I thought it was a vast improvement over the DS and have been enjoying it ever since, although I have fallen behind these past few months. Really need to pick up Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, and Resident Evil: Revelations.

Good job Steve. You sound more and more comfortable with each video, and less panicked about not speaking English as well as you do French. Keep it up :) my suggestion would be to not wait so long before finally speaking. A lot of people probably won't mind, but ten minutes is a long time for a video review. I'd like to hear you start sooner.

Very well-done boss man. I'd love a Vita, but alas I will be sticking with mobile gaming for the foreseeable future. Oh well, at least I should be able to invest in a tablet later this year, and grab a new phone in a little over a year. Should be a lot of fun. Enjoy your new toy :)

Wait until you read my next review lol. It should be most interesting. A $0.99 game retailing for $29.99! That's a steal! Can't really believe Ubisoft did that to be honest.

Making me jealous bringing our podcast back...shame on you gentlemen :P Good stuff though, it was long overdue. My comments are as follows...

1) You need to listen carefully to Steve to understand him at times. I wonder if there's some kind of software to improve international communication?

2) Get ready to clean out the fridge on your Vita ;)

3) Congratulations on 30 minutes :)

It's because the site is currently going through maintenance. It should be back in ten or 15 minutes. Sorry about that, it's a problem we should only have for the next little while until Apple approves our iTunes subscription and then you can subscribe and listen directly through there, which will make it 100 times easier. Just keep refreshing every so often and the player should appear in the space before the text.

Excellent video good sir. Really enjoyed all you had to say on this game. Truth be told, I doubt this would remain my favorite DQ after replaying the entire series today. I believe it would be between IV and V, but VI will always hold a very special place in my heart because of my obsession with A Link to the Past.

Well, in full disclosure I should say that I've never actually seen episodes IV-VI all the way through. I've seen bits & pieces and know the major plot points, but never sat down to watch any of them start to finish. So, with my primary Star Wars exposure being limited to episodes I-III, my favorite scene was the showdown of Qui-Gon Jin and Obi-Wan against Darth Maul, culminating in Obi-Wan taking a mentor role for Anakin before he was really ready to. With the knowledge that Anakin eventually becomes Vader, I felt a lot of sympathy for him, like in his eventual fall to the dark side he was as much a victim as any of the other characters, just struggling against forces outside his control and making the best decisions he could. So even though he does eventually facilitate the misery of the rest of the galaxy by helping to form the empire and become a force of evil (he's freakin' Darth Vader) it just makes the whole thing seem more tragic.
Anyway, I really should see episodes IV-VI, and this would be a great opportunity to experience them in there full HD glory!

As a science fiction lover who is also a musician, I of course greatly enjoy John Williams' brilliant score. I'll never forget the first time I saw Episode III; It was in the theater with my younger brother. In the opening space battle, we see Anakin and in the battle music we hear the Skywalker theme, but then Williams layers in the Vader theme over it, foreshadowing the transformation. My brother said, "Wow look at that battle!" and I said, "Look? Listen to that!" Lucas and Williams are a great story-telling team and that makes this one of my favorite scenes.

Those are good comments Tim. I think the 7.5 about sums that up. I think the system really changes things up for the better but the lack of content hurts the overall package across all modes. They needed this system with a more robust feature set and this would have been something really special. Alas no. It's a fun fighter, but they need to step up their game for VI.

I'm really enjoying SCV, though I have a lot of issues with it.

First, I'm pleased with the new characters. ZWEI and Viola are both unique and interesting, and they bring unique fighting styles to the table. Natsu, Leixia, and Xiba, on the other hand, provide a neat, re-balanced, and re-tweaked approach to several classic characters. Patroklos and Pyrrha are also pretty fun to play as. Though I have to say, the absence of Rock, Seung Mina, Talim, and Zasalamel surprises me, especially for Zasalamel. He had a really cool fighting style and is a relatively new character, so what gives? Also, why are there THREE all-weapon users? Kilik, Edge Master, and Elysium are all basically the same, in the sense that they can use the fighting style of any character. The only thing separating them are their Brave Edge super moves.

The character editor is amazingly robust. This is easily one of the best features in SCV or in any fighting game to date. Players have a long list of equipment, weapons, items, and accessories to use for customizing both the existing roster and creating brand new original characters. Not only can you customize equipment and items, the options for fine-tuning character build and appearance are impressive. The character editor is a clear step up from the previous game. One especially pleasant bonus is that the fighting style of “Devil Jin” from Namco’s other 3D fighting game series, Tekken, is an option for custom characters.

I am very let down with the single player content, not just for the campaign mode, but for arcade as well! Usually in a fighting game, you face down half a dozen characters, then a boss, and you get some story scenes. SCV doesn't seem to do any of that. I wish they just integrated the campaign mode from SCII, because that was amazing. I know everyone recently points to MK9, but I say absolutely not (I didn't care for that game much at all). I say you need to look back at SCII for good single player content. That was amazing. Also, why can't you use extra weapons freely in a versus mode, like SCII? That made matches so much fun. Playing the "Extra" Arcade and VS. modes with those bonus weapons made matches more varied and interesting. Sure, it probably broke the game but it kept it fun.

Still, despite my criticisms with the single player, I'm having a lot of fun. I played tons of versus matches and will keep playing. Nightmare FTW!

First, I’m pleased with the new characters.

SCV doesn’t seem to do any of that. I wish they just integrated the campaign mode from SCII, because that was amazing. I know everyone recently points to MK9, but I say absolutely not (I didn’t care for that game much at all). I say you need to look back at SCII for good single player content. That was amazing. Also, why can’t you use extra weapons freely in a versus mode, like SCII? That made matches so much fun. Playing the “Extra” Arcade and VS. modes with those bonus weapons made matches more varied and interesting. Sure, it probably broke the game but it kept it fun.

Still, despite my criticisms with the single player, I’m having a lot of fun. I played tons of versus matches and will keep playing. Nightmare FTW!

Been following the site for years, but never made any comments until today. Been a longtime fan of Star Wars and my favorite scene from Episode I has to be when Darth Maul takes on Obi and Qui Gon. I always felt that battle ended way too soon, but there's something about it that I love. They should have made Darth Maul the main villian in the three prequels,

Keep up the good work guys.

Dude that is sweet!!!!!

So my favorite Star Wars scene has got to be the scene where Luke is in the wampa cave. The reason i like this scene most of all is because it's where luke begins to realize the abilities he has available to him and that the "limitations" he has is only in his mind. It truly shows that "Your focus determines your reality." (Qui Gon Jinn to Anakin Skywalker in Episode I) This is a quote i try to my life by and this scene shows Luke believing in that even though no one has ever said it to him.

Great review! I am very interested in this game, especially after the demo. People are absurdly quick to hate on Final Fantasy nowadays, which makes me sad. I hope that 13-2 is a sign that SE is going to turn things around.

Keep in mind our Youtube video posting has a lot of comments already so it's perfectly cool if people are going that route. So long as people are interested that's all that matters.

Hello everyone,

I'll try my luck on this awesome prize package. So my favorite scene is in the Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, where Han Solo is approached by a bounty hunter named Greedo at the Mos Eisley Cantina. Solo tells Greedo that he was just on his way to see Greedo's boss, Jabba the Hutt, to arrange payment of a debt to Jabba for a failed shipment in which Solo had to dump his entire cargo due to an unexpected Imperial boarding. Greedo tells Solo to pay him instead of Jabba. Realizing that Greedo will simply kill him for the money, Solo quietly removes his laser blaster under the table, and when Greedo admits that he would just as soon see Solo dead as alive, Solo beats him to the draw and kills him.

I've also put a youtube link if you want to see it:

Now my question to you is: who shot first, Han or Greedo???

I'm convinced that Han shot first!

Good luck to everyone!
