It’s hard to believe, but Point Lookout is the fourth Fallout 3 expansion, but that didn't affect the quality one bit. Regardless of where you are in the Capital Wasteland, a mysterious new message appears, informing you that a ferry is waiting. Upon arriving at the destination, you meet a woman who happens to be searching for her daughter Nadine. Choose to help, and the ferryman sells you a ticket to investigate Point Lookout. Make no mistake though, this has you enter a world quite unlike the original Fallout 3. In this marshy swamp, filled with inbred lunatics and devil worshipers, you may very well have the time of your life. For 800 Microsoft Points ($10), Point Lookout is another must-download thanks to the twisted humor, emphasized focus on exploration and great new enemies introduced.

Point Lookout truly is all about exploration. For players that analyze every nook and cranny, a theme park, swampy marshes, an irradiated forest and giant lighthouse await. All this forms one of F3's most diverse areas. Players should be happy to know that they can return to Point Lookout at any time by visiting the ferry, and buying a ticket.

Point Lookout features new core missions, about five or six side-missions and hours upon hours of exploration. There are also new weapons, perks, etc. -- what we've come to expect from an expansion -- but the real reward is in discovering new clues related to the years before the Great War. There’s even a nod to the Civil War, which was really unexpected. It’s almost as if Point Lookout was lost to time itself. The inbred townsfolk give this piece of the Fallout universe a distinct feeling; one that will keep you coming back.

However, Point Lookout isn’t for the faint of heart. The villagers and scavengers are extremely formidable opponents, so it's wise to stock up on Stimpacks and ammo before ferrying out. I suppose it’s also worth mentioning that this expansion doesn’t lift the level cap, but that’s positive for those like me who have been trying to level up for the last little while. Another one or two expansions should help me reach the cap. For those that already hit the new cap, nothing is going to change.

All Fallout 3 fans should buy Point Lookout right away. With word coming from Bethesda that the PS3 version will see all of these expansions, there’s no reason for anyone to skip out. This is by far the best new content yet, and we hope Bethesda has plans to keep it coming for a long time to come. Excellent work guys!
