Nintendo Sold 1.5 Million Systems Last Week

I think the headline says it all to be honest.  Nintendo sold a stunning 1.5 million system last week.  That’s 900,000 DS systems and 600,000 Wiis.  Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime had the following to say about the incredible sales…

U.S. shoppers bought about 9,000 Nintendo hardware systems nonstop for every hour of every day during the week of Black Friday. For the past several years, consumers have decided that Nintendo defined both top value and all-inclusive entertainment, and that sentiment continues again at the start of this shopping season.

Can you blame him sounding so sincere about his company’s position?  Nintendo has mopped the floor with Microsoft and Sony this generation.  That’s something virtually no one expected to happen.  It just proves, we’re not always right ;)

Nintendo Brings New DS Systems To Black Friday

The holiday season is almost upon us, and Nintendo has decided to bring some color to this year’s Black Friday.  Hoping to capitalize on the busiest shopping day of the year, here’s what Nintendo has for you.

Both systems will be available on November 26 for a suggested retail price of $149.99 USD.  Nintendo is saying these are limited to their original ship number.  In other words, these are limited.  Both versions ship with a free copy of Mario Party DS, as you can see from the included images.

If neither of these two bundles are blowing your skirt up, well Nintendo has something else that might interest you.  It’s a DSi XL that includes a free copy of Mario Kart DS, pre-installed copies of Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math and Photo Clock.  I’m talking about the Super Mario Bros. 25th anniversary edition Nintendo DSi XL which goes for $179.99 USD.

No matter what your tastes are, Nintendo has your portable needs covered for this holiday season…that is unless you already own a DSi in which case you can simply look on and laugh at how its possible for anyone in the world not to own a DS at this point O_o

Weekly Releases: Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, NHL 11, Kingdom Hearts, And More Now Available

This is where I would normally place a ton of press releases all essentially saying the exact same thing, our fantastic new game is out today…go buy it!  So instead of doing that, I thought I’d try something a bit different.  Below are a few pics showcasing the biggest games being released today.  I didn’t include all the tons of DS kiddie games I know no one cares about.  If you do care, well chime in and let me know.  Oh great, here comes Steven now…

Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2
Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
NHL 11
R.U.S.E. The Art of Deception
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

For the fanboys out there, I randomly selected the box art.  I suppose I should also mention that this isn’t a giant conspiracy against Nintendo either, you got Metroid, what more do you want?  It’s pretty amazing to see a PSP title released that’s actually note-worthy.  Don’t get me wrong, I like the PSP, but lately that machine has seen virtually no software.  Then again, there’s God of War, which I appear to be the only person excited about.  Good times.

So to get this back on track, are any of you picking up any of this week’s releases?

Big News: Price Drop On All DSi Models

Not much to say here except that if you don’t yet own a DSi or a DSi XL, now’s your chance to pick one up.

Nintendo has announced that effective September 12th, both models of the DSi will be lowered.  The DSi will now retail for $149.99, and the DSi XL will be available for $169.99.  Here’s what Nintendo had to say about the matter.

“We know shoppers want to get the maximum value out of every dollar they spend,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Our new Nintendo DSi prices make it easier than ever for consumers to access the tremendous variety of games, applications and social tools on the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL systems.”

Now I want to know what you have to say about this.  Since I already own a DSi, and I no longer us it, then this announcement clearly doesn’t pertain to me.  It’s amazing but all my portable gaming has been on the iPhone.  I know many people knock the device to having a ton of micro-games, but honestly, they work so exceptionally well on the metro and bus ride into work.  For all my “traditional” gaming needs, I have the Xbox 360 and PS3.  Don’t call me a Nintendo-hater though, as I’m likely the only person you’ll ever know with a Triforce tattoo.  Yes sir, I’m not lying.

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn Arrives On November 29th

If you’re not looking forward to Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, then clearly you aren’t a fan of Nintendo RPGs.  This bad boy looked great at E3, and with any luck one of the staff members who actually played the game will chime in here and lay down their two cents.

In terms of news, the big N just let it be known that Dark Dawn will arrive in North America on November 29th.  Are you going to pick this one up on day 1, or are you completely not interested?  We want to know.  No, honestly, we want to hear from you.

If you’re wondering why there’s not many pics here, it’s because my net is on the fritz so I’m doing these updates via my iPhone.  Yes, I’m very thankful to have that wonderful gadget right about now ;)
